Lesson Terms and Conditions
Equi-libre Horses (ELH) is the trading name of Jo Hughes.
The following terms and conditions apply to ELH courses, workshops, lessons and clinics booked as well as ELH Academy of Positive Horsemanship Memberships:
One-2-One Lessons & Behaviour Consultations with Equi-libre Horses
Unfortunately due to an increasing number of late cancellations for one-to-one lessons and behaviour consultations recently, I have been forced to change my bookings and cancellations terms and conditions.
Your payment and resulting booking of your appointment is your acceptance of these Terms & Conditions
Full payment for the lesson or consultation fee (not including travel costs) is required in order to accept and confirm a booking a minimum of 7 days before the session date.
Please bear in mind when booking that Jo Hughes will teach in pretty much any weather!
Booked appointments which are missed, changed, altered, moved or cancelled for any reason will be charged as follows:
- Within 7 days or less of 12.00am midnight the day before your scheduled session, a 50% cancellation fee is payable
Within 72 hours or less of 12.00am midnight the day before your scheduled session, the full fee is payable
If ELH should need to cancel your lesson, we will do so with as much warning as possible and we shall offer other available dates to re-book. If no acceptable date can be agreed a full refund will be given of any funds pre-paid.

Clinics/Courses/Workshops with Equi-libre Horses
Deposits must be received by us at least 30 days prior to the commencement dates of the workshop, course or clinic booked. Payment in full is required before commencement of the workshop, course or clinic booked will take place.
Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of the place on the workshop, course or clinic and the following cancellation fees will be enforced:
- Cancel the workshop, course or clinic place more than 30 days before its commencement date and the deposit is non-returnable.
- Cancel the course or clinic 30 days or less before its commencement date and the full fee is payable.
If you are unable attend a workshop, course or clinic with 30 days or less notice before the the course commencement date then we can transfer your place to another named person if you can provide an alternative delegate. It is your responsibility to negotiate reimbursement of the fee from the delegate you provide. If you cannot provide an alternative delegate, it will be deemed as cancelled and the full fee is payable.
If ELH cancel one of our courses/workshops/clinics we shall offer other available dates to re-book or if no acceptable date can be agreed a full refund will be given of any funds pre-paid.
Clinics/Courses with External Clinicians
To arrange events of this nature with external clinicians, ELH must make advance financial commitment in order to secure the required resources for a successful event. Reservation of your place will therefore require payment in full at least 30 days prior to the commencement dates of the course/clinic, otherwise we are not be able to guarantee your place.
We regret to advise that the fee for these events are 100% non-refundable. If you are unable attend a workshop, course or clinic with 30 days or less notice before the the course commencement date then we can transfer your place to another named person if you can provide an alternative delegate. It is your responsibility to negotiate reimbursement of the fee from the delegate you provide. If you cannot provide an alternative delegate, it will be deemed as cancelled and the full fee is payable.
If ELH cancel any clinic/course with an external clinician we shall do our best to offer another available date to re-book or if no acceptable date can be agreed a full refund will be given of any funds pre-paid.
Athena, ELH’s Saddle Horse
The maximum weight limit for lessons on Athena is 14 ½ stone.
ELH require the client to provide their own saddle and a soft saddle cloth/numnah for use in lessons on Athena.
All horses must have up-to-date flu and tetanus vaccinations and be fully insured against public liability.
If ELH cancel any course/workshop/lesson/clinic we shall offer other available dates to re-book or if no acceptable date can be agreed a full refund will be given of any funds pre-paid.
If any client/delegate violates the rules of behaviour or health and safety at any clinic/workshop/course or lesson or is any way deemed negligent to the care and welfare of their horse they will be required to leave the premises immediately taking their property and horse and will be liable to pay the full fee for the courses/lessons they are attending.
Each client/delegate in attendance will be required to sign a disclaimer before commencement of any training with ELH.
ELH reserves the right to immediately halt or terminate any training session if we feel that the health, safety or welfare of any persons or horses are at risk of being compromised at any stage during the training session.
Membership Subscriptions Terms & Conditions
Equi-libre Horses (ELH) and Equi-libre Horses Academy of Positive Horsemanship are the trading names of Jo Hughes.
This Personal Membership Subscription Agreement (“Agreement”) sets forth the terms and conditions governing your right to access the Equi-libre Horses Academy of Positive Horsemanship online service (the “Service”), through its website www.equi-libre.co.uk (the “Site”) for recurring monthly periods of either six or twelve months (monthly payments) from the date payment for your subscription has been successfully received through our secure online payment partner, Paypal. By clicking the box “I’ve read and accept the terms & conditions” on the checkout page and completing the sale, you agree to be bound by all of the terms and conditions of this Agreement.
Please review the terms of Agreement as well as the Terms and Conditions before clicking the check box on the checkout page. If you do not wish to accept this Agreement, then do not proceed with your subscription purchase.
Binding Terms and Alterations
The Equi-libre Horses Academy of Positive Horsemanship reserves the right to alter the terms of this Agreement from time to time and without prior notice. Any alterations to this Agreement will be posted on this web page.
When the terms are altered, we will provide notice to you by email or by posting a notice on the site. Your continued use of the Service following such notice constitutes your acceptance of those alterations. If you no longer agree to the terms of this Agreement or to any alterations, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org immediately to cancel your subscription. Please also read paragraph contained herein on Cancellation.
Use of Site Content
All personal subscribers are reminded that they must strictly adhere to our policy on Use of Site Content as contained in the Site’s general Terms and Conditions (see below).
Password Use and Security
By entering into this Agreement, you acknowledge that the Service is for your exclusive use only. Use or sharing of your user name and password by another user is expressly prohibited. We have the right to disable any user identification code or password, at any time, if in our opinion you have failed to comply, resulting in immediate suspension or termination of your account.
You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your user name and password and for all activities that occur under your user name and password. You agree to immediately notify us by email at email@example.com if you become aware of or have reason to believe that there is any unauthorised use of your account or any other breach of security. We are in no way liable for any claims related to the use or misuse of your user name and password due to the activities of any third party outside of our control or due to your failure to maintain their confidentially and security.
Grant of Licence
The Equi-libre Horses Academy of Positive Horsemanship grants you a non-transferable, non-exclusive and revocable licence to use the Service according to the terms and conditions set forth in this Agreement. Except as expressly granted by this Agreement, you acquire no right, title or licence in the Service or the content of any of the Site or other data or materials incorporated in the Service.
Term and Termination
Your access to the Service will continue from the date payment have been successfully received through our secure online payment partner, PayPal, for the period selected at purchase, either six or twelve months unless it is terminated by The Equi-libre Horses Academy of Positive Horsemanship for any breach of this Agreement or any breach of the Site’s general Terms and Conditions (see below).
The minimum required notice period is one calendar month and this should be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. The notice period will commence on receipt of that email.
During the notice period any subscription payment due will be collected as usual with membership subscription ceasing at the subsequent subscription payment date.
Refunds are not given for partial use of a billing period paid for in advance.
There is no right to Assign. This Agreement is personal to you and you may not Assign your rights or obligations to anyone else.
Neither failure nor delay on the part of any party to exercise any right, remedy, power or privilege hereunder nor course of dealing between the parties shall operate as a waiver thereof, or of the exercise of any other right, remedy, power or privilege. No term of this Agreement shall be deemed waived, and no breach consented to, unless such waiver or consent shall be in writing and signed by the party claimed to have waived or consented. No waiver of any rights or consent to any breaches shall constitute a waiver of any other rights or consent to any other breach.
If any provision in this Agreement is held invalid or unenforceable under applicable law, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
Governing Law and Jurisdiction
The Equi-libre Horses Academy of Positive Horsemanship have established this website in England. English Law shall govern its use at all times and, in the event of a dispute, relevant parties shall irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts.
Terms and Conditions
This website (the “Site”) is owned and maintained by Jo Hughes, Equi-libre Horses Academy of Positive Horsemanship. Your use of this website is subject to these terms and conditions of use (“Terms and Conditions”) and the Privacy Policies (see above). Please read the terms carefully – they apply to your use of the website. By accessing or using the Site, you acknowledge and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. These Terms and Conditions may vary from time to time, so please check them regularly. Your continued use of the Site following the posting of any changes will mean that you have accepted the changes.
Please note that as well as abiding by these terms and conditions anyone taking out either a six or twelve monthly personal membership subscription will have to accept the terms and conditions contained in the Personal Membership Subscription Agreement (see above).
General Terms and Conditions
Acceptable Use Standards
You agree to use the Site only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not infringe the rights of, or restrict or inhibit the use and enjoyment of, the Site by any third party. You shall indemnify Jo Hughes of Equi-libre Horses Academy of Positive Horsemanship against all costs, claims, demands or expenses incurred by or made against Jo Hughes, Equi-libre Horses Academy of Positive Horsemanship or the Site as a result of any breach of these Terms and Conditions howsoever.
You may not use our Site: to transmit, or procure the sending of any material which is:- defamatory of any person, obscene, offensive or inflammatory; infringes any copyright, database right or trade mark of any other person; is likely to deceive any person; is in breach of any legal duty owed to a third party (e.g. duty of confidence); is threatening or abusive, is likely to harass, upset or embarrass any other person, misrepresents your identity; advocates or promotes any unlawful act.
We will determine, in our discretion, whether there has been a breach of these Acceptable Use Standards through the use of our Site. If a breach of this policy has occurred, we may take such action as we deem appropriate. Failure to comply with these Acceptable Use Standards constitutes a material breach of the Terms and Conditions and may result in our taking any of the following actions:
- Immediate, temporary or permanent withdrawal of your right to use our Site
- immediate, temporary or permanent removal of any posting or material uploaded by you to our Site
If these Terms and Conditions are not accepted in full, you do not have permission to access the contents of the Site and should cease using the Site immediately.

Academy Member Forums
All personal subscribers/users have unlimited access to the Academy Member Forums.
Jo Hughes, Equi-libre Horses Academy of Positive Horsemanship will be available on the Forums in the Weekly Online Meet Ups.
Video Review Lessons
All personal subscribers/users have the option of the Video Review Lessons. These are available as follows:
Platinum Members – every 2 months (6 within a 12 month Membership Subscription, 3 within a 6 month Membership Subscription)
Gold Members – every 3 months (4 within a 12 month Membership Subscription, 2 within a 6 month Membership Subscription as a Member Extra at additional cost)
Silver Members – every 4 months (3 within a 12 month Membership Subscription, 1 within a 6 month Membership Subscription as a Member Extra at additional cost)
Video Review Lessons have to be taken when due. They cannot be carried forward into the next time period. If not used within the timescale stated above then the option expires.
Personal Subscribers upload up to 5 minutes worth of video to YouTube and share the link with Jo Hughes, Equi-libre Horses Academy of Positive Horsemanship. Jo Hughes, Equi-libre Horses Academy of Positive Horsemanship will give 25 minutes of discussion/feedback/advice/instruction on the footage via either the Subscriber telephoning Jo Hughes, Equi-libre Horses Academy of Positive Horsemanship or via an internet call on Skype at a pre-arranged time.
Personal Subscribers will need a YouTube or other video hosting account.
Personal Subscribers will need either a telephone or a Skype account.
Personal Internet Coaching Calls
Available to Platinum Member Subscribers and Gold Member Subscribers only. These are available as follows:

Academy Video & Article Libraries
All Member Subscriber levels have unlimited access to The Academy Library and Article Library.
All Member Subscribers will need a personal YouTube account to view the media content. Member Subscribers also need to give Jo Hughes, Equi-libre Horses Academy of Positive Horsemanship their YouTube username to enable them to view the media content.
Jo Hughes, Equi-libre Horses Academy of Positive Horsemanship will release either one article or one video tutorial into the libraries each month. Video tutorials will average approximately 10 minutes in length.
Webinars and Q&A Sessions
Jo Hughes, Equi-libre Horses Academy of Positive Horsemanship will run 4 Webinars per year and 4 Q&A Sessions per year on a variety of topics with a variety of trainers and guest lecturers.
These are all inclusive for Platinum Members with places offered to these Member Subscribers as priority.
Places are then offered to:
Gold Member Subscribers – offered after Platinum Member Subscribers with optional access as Member Extra at additional cost
Silver Member Subscribers – remaining places then offered to Silver Members with optional access as Member Extra at additional cost
Personal Subscribers will need access to the Internet and our online conferencing website along with headset and audio capability. These will vary in length but approximately 1 hour.
Instructions on how to join these sessions will be sent via email upon booking/paying for your place.
Jo Hughes Equi-libre Horses Academy of Positive Horsemanship reserves the right at any time and without prior notice, to remove or cease to supply any product or service contained on this website. In the event that such removal takes place we shall not be liable to you in any way whatsoever for such removal.
Jo Hughes Equi-libre Horses Academy of Positive Horsemanship reserves the right to change the content, presentation, user facilities and availability of any part of the website at its sole discretion.
